Cultural Day 2025 - Challenges and Outcomes
About me:
Hello and welcome to my blog where I will be sharing my personal achievements, professional engagements, and lessons I have learnt along the way. I am Zunaira Ghalib, a second year BSc (Hons) Business Studies student at CUQ Ulster University. I am eager to share my reflections and offer insights on my experiences so far.
Cultural Day:
During my time at CUQ, we have had a wide range of exciting
events and workshops. One memorable experience was contributing to our Cultural
Day 2025, which is a vibrant showcase of different cultures within our
university community. This event fostered connection and unity as well as highlighted
beautiful cultural traditions.
Contribution and Challenges Faced:
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to lead a small team in
creating a visual booth representing the UK. This role involved coordinating
both financial and logistical aspects, collaborating closely with students and
faculty to design and set up the booth, and managing it during the event. We
had QAR500 to gather decorations and food, over the course of a short week, and
assemble everything in time.
The days leading up to the event were incredibly hectic, as
we rushed to finish decorations, finalize the setup, and make sure everything
was ready. Then, on the day of the event, it felt as though the odds were
against us as strong winds kept blowing away our decorations; we felt like
admitting defeat. However, with a lot of teamwork, quick thinking, and
problem-solving, we managed to pull everything together in time. Seeing it all work
out, despite the chaos, was one of the most rewarding moments.
Lessons Learnt:
This experience taught me more than just event planning; I developed key skills that I continue to use in personal and professional environments, such as adaptability, critical thinking, and cooperation. Additionally, it enhanced financial planning and task execution abilities.
Overall, Cultural Day 2025 was an unforgettable experience that
was more than just representing a culture. Looking back, I’m proud of what my
team and I accomplished and how much I learned along the way.
Thank you for taking the time to read. I look forward to sharing more experiences with you all in future posts.
