What My Journey To Indonesia Taught Me

Image
During the summer of 2025, I was lucky enough to take a two-week trip, with my family, to Indonesia. This journey was an unforgettable experience - not only because of the beautiful country and culture itself, but also because of the valuable lessons learnt in time management and immersion. About Indonesia: We visited three islands, spending around five days on each, where we toured cities, countrysides and nature's beauties. Each destination offered something unique, providing us a glimpse of Indonesian lifestyle. Furthermore, we were fortunate enough to have knowledgeable local guides on each island, who connected us with others and introduced us to traditional customs and foods, such as Nasi Goreng (their national dish). Everyone we encountered were incredibly hospitable and open, allowing us to not only explore the sites but also to gain a genuine understanding of the local life. My Library Volunteering Experience

My Experience: During my time in secondary school, I had the privilege of working under the primary school librarian in assisting with various daily tasks. Some of these included, organizing and wrapping books, managing book checkouts, running errands to classrooms, and engaging with younger students. This particularly interested me as I was always intrigued by how different parts of a school operate, so observing the library's management process firsthand was memorable. Additionally, I had the opportunity to apply my marketing and communication skills (on a smaller scale) to encourage children to read. Having studying AS level psychology and sociology, at this time, further supported my efforts, allowing me to better understand children's behavior interactions. Not only did this make the experience smoother and easier to manage but also made this volunteering work far more rewarding. What I Learnt: This experience allowed me to strengthen my existing abilities, such as organis...

About me: Hello and welcome to my blog where I will be sharing my personal achievements, professional engagements, and lessons I have learnt along the way. I am Zunaira Ghalib, a second year BSc (Hons) Business Studies student at CUQ Ulster University. I am eager to share my reflections and offer insights on my experiences so far. Cultural Day: During my time at CUQ, we have had a wide range of exciting events and workshops. One memorable experience was contributing to our Cultural Day 2025, which is a vibrant showcase of different cultures within our university community. This event fostered connection and unity as well as highlighted beautiful cultural traditions. Contribution and Challenges Faced: Fortunately, I had the opportunity to lead a small team in creating a visual booth representing the UK. This role involved coordinating both financial and logistical aspects, collaborating closely with students and faculty to design and set up the booth, and managing it during the event. W...
