My Library Volunteering Experience

My Experience:

During my time in secondary school, I had the privilege of working under the primary school librarian in assisting with various daily tasks. Some of these included, organizing and wrapping books, managing book checkouts, running errands to classrooms, and engaging with younger students. This particularly interested me as I was always intrigued by how different parts of a school operate, so observing the library's management process firsthand was memorable.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to apply my marketing and communication skills (on a smaller scale) to encourage children to read. Having studying AS level psychology and sociology, at this time, further supported my efforts, allowing me to better understand children's behavior interactions. Not only did this make the experience smoother and easier to manage but also made this volunteering work far more rewarding.

What I Learnt:

This experience allowed me to strengthen my existing abilities, such as organisation and communication, while also developing new ones related to patience, adaptability and problem-solving. Working in a typical calm and quiet library environment with energetic young students taught me how to manage behaviour and maintain focus.

Overall, this experience allowed me to gain valuable insight into workplace management and interpersonal dynamics, while deepening my appreciation for educational figures.

Thank you for reading - I am eager to excited to share more experiences and insights in upcoming posts.
